It has been awhile since my last post. I just can not believe how time flew from the last post I did way back in November.  I have been busy photographing and booking events from Bar Mitzvah’s and Bat Mitzvah’s, Baptisms, Anniversary’s and Weddings.  I have a great time doing it and making friends along the way.

I really enjoy photographing artists. I have been fortunate to work with different artist such as musicians, novelist, and recently with dancers. Artist bring there own ideas into the images that they would like to create and it makes a really creative and enjoyable process.

This particular photo shoot was done in two stages.  The first stage is that the dancer needed different type of looks in a clean studio head shots to bring out who she is as a person. The second stage is  to capture the dancer and show case the strengths and abilities as a dancer.

We decided on dong the dance shots in some grungy type of hip hop environment.  My wife and I took a day to look for some cool locations  and found a place that was perfect for what we wanted to do.  Here are some shots of the location.

The last part of the shoot was on this beach, but we lost too much light to make it interesting and it started to get really cold fast.  I took a few shots and we decided to call it a day.

I love shooting places, but I need a human interaction with the environment to make it more interesting for me. My beautiful wife thankfully obliged to pose for me. This shot above and below is a place where I actually took some of the images of the dancer which I will post soon.

On the technical note, the shot below is taken with an 8 stop variable density filter, which is a cool tool to have in your bag to get these types of shots during 3 o’clock sun. I will post about in the future.

Another cool setting that I did not use because it was a bit too tight for the dance pose shots, but it came out real nice for a portrait.

Stay tuned for Take 2
