I had an opportunity to shoot a concert for People en Español magazine’s event presenting singer Olga Tañon at the Best Buy Theater in Manhattan.   Prince Royce was the supporting act.

The venue was packed when Olga hit the stage. She put on a very energetic show and the audience was enjoying it all; dancing to her songs and having a blast throughout the whole concert.

Photographer’s note:  Opening act lighting was about two stops dimmer compared to Olga’s set. I was shooting at ISO 2000, f2.8 at around shutter speed of 100, compared to Olga’s set which was ISO 800 at f2.8-f4 at shutter speed of 200 or so.  The only thing I would have liked is the backlights to have been brighter.  I would say the backlights were about 3 stops lower than the main spot lights which made background and rim lighting on the subject a bit dim and at times non existent.  I had to watch for the background lights more and wait to get some shots where the backlights were a bit stronger so I could get some back wash of color.

Lenses used were: Nikon 24-70 2.8 and Nikon 70-200 VRii 2.8.

Here are some photos from the opening act.
